01. Choose the right spots to apply your perfume
02. Store your perfume in good conditions
03. Adjust the dosage according to the fragrance
How to use your perfume and how to apply perfume depends on each person! Sometimes it is said that to wear perfume is to reveal a small part of your personality...
For us it is also a way to accompany our desires and to accompany us in any circumstance. Whether it is for a particular occasion or on a daily basis, there are small tricks easy to apply so that the perfume has an optimal hold on the skin.
Choose the right spots to apply your perfume
This is achieved through small and simple daily rituals! Coco Chanel said that you should put perfume in all the places where you want to be kissed. Well, that's pretty much it! In order to leave a real trail behind you and to get a good adhesion of the perfume, we advise you to spray your perfume on the "pulse points". These are simply the areas where the skin is very thin and releases heat. Among them: the neck, the wrists, the back of the ears, the nape of the neck, the ankles... The joints should not be forgotten either, because, with each movement, you release a subtle smell that will not fail to make its effect! Whether you spray it on your clothes, directly on your hair, or on your skin, the main thing is to make this ritual a moment of pleasure.
If you don't want to focus on a specific area, the most common technique is the cloud technique: you spray the perfume in front of you and walk through the cloud to be evenly saturated with perfume. In fact, there is no real "way to apply perfume", it is you who invents your own approach, according to your habits and desires of the moment..
The perfume can also be sprayed on clothes, for a better diffusion of the fragrance... but this is not recommended for all textiles! Some fibers react less well than others. This is the case of synthetic fibers, which release less facets of a fragrance than natural fibers! Silk, cashmere, velvet or cotton are the best allies of perfume. It is thus completely advised to perfume your textiles and that will make it possible to find a pleasant odor on your favorite sweaters ( a pro tip to face the winter)! It also works on sheets and household linen...
Store your perfume in good conditions
Proper storage of perfume is also an important factor for it to vaporize properly, especially if you store it for more than a year. Light, heat and humidity are not ideal for the proper preservation of perfume. It is therefore recommended to keep your perfume in a drawer, away from humidity, light and heat... ideally! It is better to avoid storing your precious bottles in the bathroom, and opt for a room with a more controlled temperature (at Bon Parfumeur, we choose the refrigerator!).
The durability of a perfume also depends on our skin type as well as on the weather and temperature. Learn more in our section How to choose your perfume. Indeed, the colder it is, the more discreet the fragrance will be.
Adjust the dosage according to the fragrance
As for the quantity, everyone is free to choose what they like, it is a question of taste, of habit, and of the effect which we want to give! It is of course necessary to take into account the different fragrance families and adjust the dosage according to its concentration. We do not use an eau de cologne (3% to 6%) in the same way as an eau de parfum (7% to 20%). An eau de cologne, less concentrated and lighter, will require a more intense use than an eau de parfum. This apply as well for eau de parfum vs eau de toilette. In order for your perfume to diffuse well, we advise you not to plan your schedule too far in advance, and to reapply it as often as necessary during the day. Our travel size Parfums are also designed for this purpose!
The way to perfume yourself is personal, and there is no wrong way to do it. All that counts is the pleasure you feel doing it, and the pleasure of wearing perfume.
