Eau de parfum 501 : An assertive praline

Can you smell those delicious sweet aromas? For us, gluttony isn’t a bad thing – quite the opposite! Deliciously addictive hazelnut opens the fragrance and sets the tone. In the heart, praline and licorice create a comforting ambiance and bring back plenty of great memories. Powdery iris marks a transition to musky, ambery notes. Underpinned by cashmeran and patchouli, the gourmand facets leave behind an assertive trail. PS: Iris is the most expensive raw material in the world. You can smell it in this eau de parfum.

What is the gourmand family like ?

Marshmallow, ripe fruits, chocolate and other mouthwatering notes with honeyed sugary facets belong to this category. They bring delicious tastes into the realm of fragrances. It all began in 1992 with Mugler’s Angel, which introduced the word “gourmand” to fragrance descriptions. This perfume met with incredible success and is still a firm favorite 30 years later. Today’s creations have a refined character with no cloying impression. We haven’t seen the last of gourmand fragrances !

What is a praline ?

Are you familiar with this candy? It’s a sugar-coated almond originally from the region around the city of Lyon, France. It smells of hazelnut, almond and toasted sugar, and its candy pink shade reminds us of the color of our 501.

Where does licorice come from ?

We’re all familiar with this sweet treat and our perfumers love it too. Licorice is extracted from the roots of the plant. Liked by men and women alike, it reveals gourmand notes with spicy, woody and aniseed facets. It is as intense as its color and makes an excellent fixative. It helps to retain more volatile notes and give the creation incredible staying power.

Mix & Match :

Combine two fragrances (or three for the most daring) to create your own unique scented trail. Different dosages (one, two, three sprays) will give a unique result.

› 501 x 002 - Want more softness or to create a comforting ambiance ?
› 501 x 601 - To reveal fresh notes that suggest licorice wood – a true delight !

J adore les notes gourmandes du 501

Growing up in Grasse with a perfumer father, Philippe had his future mapped out for him. Philippe worked at Robertet for 20 years at locations across the globe. For the past 17 years, he has been a senior perfumer at Drom Fragrances in Paris. He is inspired by music and by the excesses and incredible creativity of the 1970s. The origins of the blues, raw and forceful sounds, the timbre of roots music, the resonance of a tormented guitar. Choosing his favorite ingredient is a tough decision but if he had to name just one, it would be a woody note like patchouli, sandalwood or vetiver that ranges from smoky to velvety and mysterious! Travel and cultural differences inspire him. He was won over by Bon Parfumeur’s concept of building your fragrance yourself to match your own preferences. He defines a Bon Parfumeur using these three words: curiosity, intuition and perseverance
